In July 2021 there have been 2 Austrian contributions to the IHS53 Symposium

• A recorded video lecture on the Vienna horn by Prof. P. Dorfmayr and Prof. G. Kulmer (MUK University Vienna)

• A live streaming session broadcasting 2 videos of amateur Horn Ensembles performances from Vienna, including an interactive Q&A Session.

 

According to the statistics provided by the organiser afterword, both contributios where a success!

• Lecture Recital „Vienna Horn“: 283 views on demand during the live-stream of the Symposium

• Live Session „Vienna Calling“: About 30 live participants, 104 total view during the Symposium (in the top 15 of the total list of presentations)

Video Lecture: TIps & Tricks to play the Viennese Horn

The first contribution is by Prof. Kulmer and Prof. Dorfmayr, professors of horn at the MUK in Vienna, which will introduce us into the everything concern the  Viennese Horn, its material, how to choose the component of the instrument (mouthpiece, crook), the peculiarities of the Wienerhorn sound and significant examples of its timbre

Hornensembles performance

With this contribution we wanted to show how Vienna offers also to non professionals a unique environment where tradition, modernity, local and international people are joined together, bounded by the common passion of making music with this wonderful instrument. Therefore, here we propose a very little historical journey of what amatuers ensemble might enjoy performing in the city and surroundings of Vienna, be it anchored to the most traditions or projected to modernity.
